Venturer Black Tie Ball?
Don't they scrub up nice

Well, it was meant to be the Venturer Black Tie Ball but unfortunately we couldn't get tickets for it. It was sold out so we had to do something else. So we got all dolled up and went to dinner in a restaurant in Suffolk Street and then went on to the Mansion House. We were very grateful for the opportunity to go and we had a "ball".

Venturers' Glencree Weekend

The Venturers

All 10 Venturers went on the weekend trip to Glencree. This was partially a training weekend and they have all now achieved their Venturer Link Badge and they have completed a module in the Silver Rogha. There are another few modules that are almost complete. Also some pioneering was done for training for our backpacking weekend.

It was a very enjoyable weekend and the weather was very good.

Best Site 2007

A fab weekend was had by all. We had in all 8 Beavers, 12 Cubs, 17 Scouts and 7 Venturers.
We would like to thank 18th Santry for organising the weekend which everybody from the Beavers to the Venturers enjoyed. We were also very proud to win the Best Cub Award (won by Sandra Bourke) and the Best Site Award.

Venturer Annual Camp to Kilfinane OEC

Canoeing on River Shannon

10 Venturers came away with us to Kilfinane OEC, which was the entire Venturer Troop.
Everyone had a fantastic time and it will be talked about for years to come. The activities included kayaking, canoeing, hill walking, rock climbing, abseiling, indoor climbing.
We camped out for the week and the weather wasn't bad at all. We had a couple of miserable days but other than that the sun shone. Very highly recommended by us and well worth a visit. We had a great week away. Many thanks to Keith and all at Kilfinane who made our stay so enjoyable. We will be back with a bit of luck. Pictures of week at Kilfinane - Week at Kilfinane

Scout Annual Camp to Cappanalea OEC

140 Scouts with Alessandra, Sylvain, Liam and Carl

15 scouts came away with us to Cappanalea OEC.

A wonderful time was had by all. The activities were excellent including kayaking, raft building, hill walking, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, kite flying, body boarding and windsurfing.

The centre was very well kitted out with all ensuite bedrooms, three cooked meals a day and a very comfortable recreation room. It also had it's own lake which we used for most of the waterbased activities. Very highly recommended by us, a great week away. Thanks to Carl and all at Cappanalea OEC who made our stay so enjoyable. The weather was great also. If you want to see more please click here - Pictures and videos of Cappanalea

The trip on the Jeanie Johnson was very entertaining. The weather unfortunately was not on our side and therefore the sea was quite choppy. Several people felt quite ill unfortunately. We were lucky that it did not rain while we were on the boat. Great day out though, highly recommended. We will just hope for calmer weather for any subsequent trips.
