A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER
When the idea of building a Scout Den for the newly-formed Scout Unit was first put to me I agreed with it, but really I saw no possibility of realizing this project for many years. It is usual for Scout Units to exist for many years before having a Den of their own. There was no site, no money - just the initial enthusiasm of a newly-formed Scout Unit - or so I thought! I did not reckon with the drive and determination, enthusiasm and optimism of all connected with the Unit.
The Beaumont Scout Unit is not four years old yet, but they can boast to-day of a beautifully designed and attractive Scout Den on the parish complex. I sincerely hope that the parents of the boys attached to the Beaumont Unit appreciate what has been achieved and the vision of these people to tackle such a daunting project.
My few years as Chaplain to the Unit left a lasting impression on me. The members of the 140th Unit Council, Fund Raising Committee and leaders are a dynamic group of people with real Christian outlook, prepared to share their talents and their time and energy for the welfare of youth.
I congratulate you on your great achievement.
MARTIN RYAN, P.P. (Clondalkin).
